You are not alone!
The socialisation period is a period of puppy development. The socialisation period begins when the puppy’s eyes first open, at the breeder’s and it is at a peak from around 5-12 weeks.
Most people bring their puppies home at 8 weeks of age, that gives you just 4 weeks to accomplish EVERYTHING before the period starts to come to an end..........Yikes!
The experiences your puppy has during it's first 12 to16 weeks of life, play a major role in their development. Research has shown that these experiences can actually alter the pup’s neural pathways; rich experiences can increase the size and complexity of their brain (Coppinger, 2001). Whether you want a pet dog or a competition dog, the next 4 to 8 weeks can make or break the quality of your life with your dog.
